on-camera field monitor

  • I have been looking for a bigger monitor than my 5”.I must say, the 7” monitor from Andycine C7 is a monster with a very sharp and bright screen up to 2200nits. With 2200nits I can easily see everything on my monitor. It has a touch function, which works great with a lot of different functions like: different scopes, vectors, graphs, false color, grids etc.You can power it with the most versatile batteries in the small creator film industri. It has input and output both for HDMI and power, which means you can power other devices and send a video signal to another monitor.I will be looking forward continue using this monitor in my studio. The swivel arm is the best I have ever tried, because it holds its position.
  • Right at the beginning I noticed that the Andycine A6 Plus is really well built and feels valuable.I particularly like the fact that it is possible to operate the monitor with touch and 3D LUTs directlyto display. These features can otherwise only be found in significantly more expensive monitors. In addition to an HDMI IN and OUT connection, the A6 Plus has a slot for an SD card and other common but also useful functions such as focus peaking, false colors, etc.In addition, both the Sony NP batteries and the Canon batteries have recently been compatible with the Andycine A6 Plus. With the matching DC OUT cable it is even possible to save the batteries of the camera and to charge them with the help of the monitor batteries. With the mounting arm, the monitor can be brought into many different positions, depending on whether you are vlogging or behind the camera. You can tell that the monitor is a bit dark when used outside, depending on the light conditions, but that should be largely remedied with the sun protection. The menu is very clear and simple and therefore offers the possibility of using the monitor functions easily and simply by touch. The monitor is a very good option for both professional and amateur videographers, as it is far above the standard in terms of price management and is very solid in a small but fine housing.
  • This monitor looks really professional! The size is perfect for all type of job and the image is really defined and very bright! The monitor has a lot of setting and has the possibility to import and set LUTS only with a SD card. For the menu, we may use the upper button/wheel or the touchscreen.Inside the package we find all the stuff that the producer say on the description! So good job!
  • Love this little monitor. I use it for my pocket 4k. Being that the pocket screen does not tilt this is the perfect companion. I can pinch to zoom and check my focus. It gives the use of the histogram. It's very bright when filming in day light.Great little monitor.
  • I recently purchased the A6 Plus Camera Monitor for a couple of reasons. 1. I wanted a monitor to more clearly evaluate focus and exposure. and 2. I wanted something that would give me better real time evaluation of my composition and framing of video shoots. I think the A6 Plus has helped me achieve that overall. It has some nice features of focus peaking, as well as false color. It also has good 1920x1080 resolution, supports 4K input that gives you good overall brightness at 150cd/m at 440ppi. the included sunshade is fine and works as expected and you will need it if out in bright sunlight. Also comes with a nice case to keep everything neatly stored in your bags, etc.Overall, for the price of this unit, I do believe it is a good value and has accomplished what I expected. I think it has assisted in getting better focus, better exposure, and I know my overall framing and composition have improved with just better visibility of the larger screen. I do overall recommend it for a budget camera monitor option.
  • I have recently been doing more outdoor productions, so I needed a monitor that would provide enough brightness to be seen clearly by customers, even in bright sunlight. This monitor definitely met my expectations regarding this, with 2200nit. The 4K resolution is also great. The touch screen enables you to easily adjust the volume and brightness settings and the menu is really easy to navigate. The NP-F970 battery enables you to use the monitor in a mobile way, so you can move with the monitor and adjust the focus.I wouldn’t recommend using this monitor if you have a very small DSLR camera, as it is slightly too large for this.I would say the audio is standard. Not bad but not the best out there. The audio output is normal, nothing to comment, the quality is considered standard.Regarding the waveform, I liked the RGB monitoring and the histogram but I have noticed that the brightness is slightly strong (compared to my Canon cameras). Therefore, I would recommend calibrating your camera with the monitor before adjusting the exposure during production.Last but not least, what has helped my workflow a lot is the ability to upload the LUTs directly to the monitor. Since I’ve have this, I’ve been able to preview how my video will look in post-production.
  • Since I started in the film production, I wanted to add a monitor to my equipment list to give more value to my production and clients.Using a transmitter and two NP-F970 batteries I can use the monitor from the distance where a pull focus assistant, director or your client could watch what is happening and what the camera is filming at the moment. I don’t see myself using it on top of my DSLR camera as the size makes a bit difficult to do camera movements. But for interviews or remote transmission, it will be helpful.Shooting outdoors is not an issue as it can use full brightness with both batteries, and if it runs out of battery, I can swap it, and it will still work with one battery. With the focus assistant option and the size of the monitor is difficult to miss the focus on the subject. For a cinematic and other aspect ratio options, I can choose which one I want to use, and it will make black bars allowing me to adjust the frame. One power supply input for the monitor and one output to charge the camera that is helpful in cases we are running out of battery. The HDMI output makes it easier to connect to another device for stream or even another monitor, and the last is the headphones output where allow us to monitor the audio quality while filming. Also, I can upload my LUTs and see how it will look in post-production and adjust the camera settings right for it.I could notice where I was shooting I have to adjust the brightness of the monitor to match with the exposure as it could be under or overexpose.
  • What I like:1. The screen resolution and viewing angles are really good, I have no problem nailing MF on a 35mm f1.4 lens!2. Lots of assist features built into the monitor that help with the exposure and focusing.
histogram
Focus assist
audio metering
zebra
monochrome
false color [I wish there was the IRE numbers as well]
safety marker
centre marker

Lots3. Audio monitoring has no lag! On the previous model I couldn’t use the monitor jack input since it had a lag with the live. Not anymore4. 3D LUT support,[.cube] oh, this is so helpful!!! The monitor already has some LUT’s built in for slogs and vlogs and clogs, but you can add your own via the sd card slot. Soo helpful and easy to use.
  • I have to recommend this touch monitor because the quality is very good, additionally that the quick shortcuts are very easy to use, even the ease of adjusting the brightness and volume, this has helped me a lot in recent days, during a live music project where I had to check the audio of the videos and it is something I can't do with my canon 6d mark II.I really like the ease of selecting the function of which part of the image is in focus, the histogram, zone 16: 9, etc. In addition, this monitor comes a nice bag that can basically have everything that you need for example 2 batteries. Recommended especially with colours and pixels!
  • I am very surprised about this incredible monitor! The build quality and image quality is 10/10. I do recommend this portable monitor to everyone who want a monitor with ton of features.
  • Which I could control the camera through the touch screen to pick focus and other settings. But beyond that flawless can see in bright sun!
  • I have used a ton of monitors including products from SmallHD, Atomos, and others. This particular monitor offers features not found on others in this price range. First, let's talk about the build quality. It's made of a polycarbonate plastic material that makes it light weight which means strapping this 7" monitor to a camera like the A73 is possible without adding a ton of unnecessary weight. It's suitable for gimbals and shoulder rigs as well. There are plenty of physical buttons including a few customizable ones if you do not want to use the touchscreen at any time. For example, I like to disable the touch screen when out in the field to avoid smudges and smears. They interfere with the visibility and light reflectivity when in direct sunlight. So, having the option to go touch-less means less wiping down my monitor which ultimately means I have less of a chance scratching my display. Speaking of the display, it's a great. It has a crystal clean image, with pretty accurate colors, and great peak brightness. It's a pretty reflective display but it gets bright enough that it shouldn't be a problem in most scenarios. The touch OS Andycine is using is great and super intuitive. It also offers tons of customization for quickly accessing modes and settings on the fly. The modes I typically use in every shoot are false color, zebras, 1:1 zoom, focus peaking, and I also add the horizontal and vertical flip options to the quick access bar. This is because this particular monitor comes with a nice mount with a cold shoe attached to it. It allows you to quickly flip the monitor from front to back in case you're filming yourself. Having the vertical and horizontal flip options in the quick access menu allows me to ensure I'm also in correct orientation. There is also audio controls built right into the monitor which is great for cameras that don't have headphone jacks. It takes Sony L style batteries which can be picked up super cheap however it does have 1 in the box along with a charger and a travel case. I've used AndyCine monitors in the past and what I love about them is how much value they bring. They always include tons of additional accessories giving you the ability to pull a monitor out of the box and use it right away which is nice. This is the same case with this particular monitor. If you're in the market for a great 7" monitor that's for the most part day light visible and you don't want to spend a fortune, make sure to check out this one.
